Jet2 flight from Leeds declared an emergency shortly after takeoff.

Jet2 flight from Leeds to Fuerteventura declared an emergency shortly after takeoff.

The Boeing 737-800 (registration G-JZBX) departed Leeds at 09:00 BST. Immediately after takeoff, the crew noticed the flaps would not retract.

The aircraft entered a hold at 7,000 ft then reached 9,000 ft for about 30 minutes before pilots squawked 7700 (general emergency).

As Manchester Airport could have been an option, the flight was vectored to ROKUP waypoint, heading south toward East Midlands Airport.

The aircraft safely landed runway 27 and is currently inspected. The Boeing 737-800 is almost 16 years old. It was first delivered to Sunwing Airlines.
