United Airlines says as flight 2428 from Newark, New Jersey, was descending into San Francisco International Airport last Thursday, it “slowed its descent to account for another aircraft at a lower altitude.”
Both injured passengers were taken to the hospital, United said in a statement. The seatbelt sign was on at the time.
An FAA incident report says one passenger received serious injuries and another minor injuries last Thursday when the pilots responded to a traffic collision avoidance system resolution advisory or “TCAS RA.”
Audio from LiveATC.net captured the pilots declaring a medical emergency, telling air traffic controllers in Oakland that “someone might have broken an ankle and there’s passengers that got hurt when we had an RA.”
In a statement, the FAA said “there was no loss of safe separation.”

]]>The Airbus A321neo with registration N216HA has just arrived as flight HA42 from Kahului, Maui. Reports indicate that the jet bridge malfunctioned and collapsed after the Airbus A321neo had docked at Gate A1.
The collapse resulted in damage to the aircraft’s L1 door, which is the main passenger door located on the forward left side of the fuselage.
Thankfully, there were no injuries reported among passengers, crew members, or ground personnel. However, the incident led to the cancellation of the flight and the aircraft being grounded for repairs at SFO.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is likely investigating the cause of the jet bridge collapse. This will involve inspecting the bridge structure and maintenance records to determine what led to the failure.
Depending on the severity of the damage, the aircraft could be out of service for a few days or even weeks.
