On 15th July, a lavatory door on a Cathay Pacific A350 dislodged from its hinges minutes after takeoff, leaving a cabin attendant to hold it in place for the remainder of the 16-hour flight.

The Airbus A350-941 with registration B-LRX was performing flight CX840 from Hong Kong (HKG) to New York (JFK). However, the lavatory door reportedly dislodged from its hinges just three minutes after takeoff.

Photos circulating online show a flight attendant strapped into a jump seat, one hand firmly gripping the detached lavatory door. Thankfully, the incident did not pose a safety risk to passengers or crew.

“The defect was rectified and our engineering team is performing a follow-up investigation. The safety of our customers and crew guides every decision we make. We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience caused.

Cathay Pacific Spokesperson

Cathay Pacific Airways has since confirmed the incident and launched an investigation.
